Job Description
UpGuard, a cyber risk company that recently closed a US$75 million Series C round, is hiring a Senior Web Developer for a full-time, fully remote role. The position belongs to the marketing team and centres on building and maintaining the company's marketing website, covering both the front-end interface and the back-end systems behind it. Much of that back end runs on Netlify, and the role also contributes to the company's planned move to the Astro framework.
The developer will turn design concepts into working pages, build interactive tools such as calculators and other programmatic features, and connect the site to several content management systems. Keeping current features running, diagnosing faults and giving hands-on help when things break also falls to the developer. Performance, accessibility, responsiveness and security are all expected to hold across devices and browsers.
This suits a senior engineer with at least eight years of experience, preferably in software-as-a-service businesses, who has a stronger front-end background but can also work competently on the server side. The main back-end stack is TypeScript on Node.js or Deno, and cloud infrastructure work with Python or Ruby is seen as a useful extra. Candidates who handle several projects at once and write clean, well-documented code are a strong match for the team.
Responsibilities
- Take charge of both client-side and server-side development for the marketing website, aiming for smooth integration, speed and scale
- Research, adopt and implement modern web technologies, including the planned Astro work, and help shape architecture
- Build interactive content such as tools, calculators and programmatic features alongside designers
- Optimise and connect multiple content management systems to support content delivery and campaigns
- Coordinate with the design, content and search optimisation staff on turning UI designs into pages and meeting technical SEO standards
- Maintain, troubleshoot and support existing website features and infrastructure
Requirements
- Eight or more years of full-stack development experience, with a strong front-end focus, ideally in SaaS
- Hands-on experience with modern front-end frameworks such as Astro, React, Vue or Svelte
- Working knowledge of TypeScript on Node.js or Deno, with back-end experience in other languages valued
- Experience working with and optimising content management systems
- Skill in converting design comps and user flows into exact, working interfaces
- Clean, well-documented, maintainable code that follows industry best practices
Qualifications
- Experience with cloud or infrastructure-as-a-service platforms such as Netlify or AWS, plus CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with database design and Jamstack architecture
- Experience with internationalisation, content translation and regional product offerings
- Demonstrated Astro experience, with a grasp of how the framework is structured and why it helps
- Knowledge of web analytics and split-testing setup
- Experience in cybersecurity or another technical B2B field
