Job Description
Abnormal AI sells cloud products that fight cybercrime, delivered on a single platform built to run across global data centers. The opening is for a Software Engineer 2 on the Development Infrastructure group, which equips other engineers with CI/CD tooling, build systems and deployment pipelines. The company describes this group as essential to its engineering organization's success.
This is a full-time remote role. The engineer would drive the design and launch of intricate, multi-part features for the group's offerings and help set its direction. Core work includes building and maintaining CI/CD infrastructure so engineers can release changes dependably with minimal effort, enhancing GitHub Actions setups, base Docker images and build-and-deploy pipelines to improve scale, speed and cost, and owning on-call incidents, particularly ones whose root cause is unclear. The engineer would also weigh AI-generated options against production realities, take part in planning, reviews and standups, and mentor other engineers.
Required experience is three or more years as a hands-on backend or platform engineer, two or more years with Python, and end-to-end delivery of complex cloud-native projects. Candidates should have run pipelines and deployment tooling in live environments, handling on-call duty and incident response, and understand distributed systems, containers and microservices. Daily use of generative AI tools in engineering is required. Helpful extras include GitHub Actions, Go, Bazel, Docker, Kubernetes, and background on engineering productivity or developer-experience teams.
Responsibilities
- Drive design and launch of intricate features that span several components, shaping the team's roadmap
- Create and upkeep the CI/CD platform so engineers ship confidently and with less friction
- Upgrade GitHub Actions setups, base images and build-and-deploy pipelines for scale, speed and spend
- Weigh AI-generated proposals against production constraints and upkeep costs
- Take ownership of on-call problems, especially murky ones, and close the systemic gaps underneath
- Contribute to planning, reviews and standups, and coach other engineers
Requirements
- At least three years of hands-on backend or platform engineering
- Two or more years of Python
- Track record of delivering complex cloud-native projects from start to finish
- Production experience with CI/CD, build or deploy systems, including on-call duty and incident response
- Working grasp of distributed systems, containers and microservices
- Routine use of generative AI tools in engineering work
Qualifications
- Previously built and maintained CI/CD systems
- Used GitHub Actions, Go or Bazel
- Worked with Docker, Kubernetes or similar platforms
- Joined engineering productivity or developer experience teams
- Familiar with AI coding assistants like Codex and Claude
