Job Description
Canonical is hiring for a remote, full-time software engineering post in its automotive and industrial architecture programme, located in EMEA. Several openings are included, spanning entry-level engineers through seasoned architects. The programme aims to make Ubuntu trustworthy for safety-critical automotive and industrial deployments by bringing disciplined safety, security and quality practices into open source development.
Core work involves translating automotive and industrial standards into engineering requirements and measuring the gap between those requirements and what exists today. Engineers author requirements, traceability models, risk analyses, test plans and certification evidence. They also design and run the verification and validation that establish Ubuntu and other components as suitable for regulated use, and build tools that automate traceability, testing and compliance reporting.
The position also involves aligning developer habits with industrial compliance, liaising with industrial partners about their expectations, and supporting audits and design reviews. The posting favours people who bring an open source builder's instincts together with a rigorous, standards-led approach, and who can collaborate across distributed teams.

- Experience designing, building or validating complex embedded systems
- Clear writing and speaking skills, including precise technical documentation
