Job Description
Canonical is recruiting a Software Engineer for its Cloud Images group, a remote, full-time post. The work revolves around Linux images for public clouds, the pipelines that build and ship them, and automation tooling for open source projects. Success means helping Ubuntu become the leading option on the major clouds, with day-to-day collaboration alongside large cloud vendors such as Amazon, Microsoft and Google.
The engineer's time is divided among four areas: writing build-system code in Python, Jenkins and shell; adding cloud features to Ubuntu Server; keeping continuous delivery pipelines running; and working directly with cloud partners. Products in scope run from web servers to GPU-driven AI on physical servers, virtual machines and containers, and the role connects them with native cloud services.
The posting targets someone who blends software development with delivery and infrastructure skills and works productively across time zones. Canonical is a remote-first company founded in 2004 that reviews pay each year and offers a performance-linked bonus.
