Cross River is seeking a Software Engineer II to join its lending division on a remote, full-time basis. Cross River builds the underlying financial infrastructure for global fintechs and enterprises, powering capabilities in payments, lending, and digital assets. In this role, you will be a hands-on contributor responsible for building backend systems and components that support consumer and commercial loan lifecycles. You will write code, solve technical challenges, and collaborate closely with team members to deliver reliable technical solutions. This position suits an engineer with a background in modern backend development who is interested in building mission-critical financial software at scale.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver scalable software modules and components
- Build backend systems utilizing C# and Python
- Work with databases including PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and DocumentDB
- Utilize AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes infrastructure
- Implement, test, and iterate on maintainable software solutions
- Participate in peer code reviews and provide constructive feedback
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior engineers to determine technical approaches
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of enterprise system development experience in modern object-oriented languages
- At least 2 years of experience working with C# or Python
- Minimum of 2 years of SQL experience, specifically with PostgreSQL or SQL Server
- Experience using AI assistive and agentic code generation tools such as Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor
- Experience with database persistence frameworks like nHibernate or Entity Framework
- Strong communication skills
Qualifications
- Experience or understanding of Domain Driven Design
- Familiarity with cloud architecture, preferably AWS
- Experience working with Docker and containers
- Background or understanding in the financial industry or accounting
- Experience designing and developing distributed systems and event-driven architecture
- Familiarity with MassTransit, NServiceBus, RabbitMQ, or idempotency
