The organization operates on a remote-first basis and is currently seeking a Software Engineer II, Backend (Test Infra) to join the Developer Productivity group within the Test Platform Engineering team.
This position involves building and evolving core testing infrastructure that impacts hundreds of engineers. The person in this role will focus on creating scalable, reliable, and developer-friendly backend and frontend test automation solutions, along with CI pipelines. Responsibilities include managing integration and end-to-end test automation frameworks, optimizing test execution speed and stability, writing technical specifications and architectural decision records, and providing triage assistance to engineering teams. The role also requires participation in an on-call rotation and working closely with colleagues in Europe and an Engineering Manager.
Candidates for this role should possess a background in quality assurance, test design, and testing methodologies. The position is remote and specifically requires an East Coast location to facilitate collaboration with European team members. For candidates located in Canada, the role is open to residents of Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan.
Responsibilities
- Own, improve, and maintain integration and end-to-end test automation frameworks and associated CI pipelines
- Design and implement technical solutions to optimize test execution time and enhance test stability
- Write technical specifications and architectural decision records while collaborating with engineers across the company
- Support engineering teams through triage requests and sharing quality assurance and test automation best practices
- Contribute to the evolution of the overall company test strategy
- Break down larger projects into individual phases and deliver them collaboratively
- Participate in an on-call rotation
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in test automation
- Proficiency in both TypeScript and Python
- Hands-on experience with Playwright and Pytest
- Experience in building and optimizing CI pipelines
- Experience with Docker and AWS
- Strong background in quality assurance, test design, and testing techniques
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with proficiency in asynchronous communication methods
- East Coast location for collaboration with European colleagues
