Extend is hiring a Software Engineer II for its Fulfillments team on a remote, full-time basis. Extend operates an AI-driven post-purchase platform serving over one thousand merchant partners across diverse industries like apparel, consumer electronics, and furniture, providing automated customer service, shipping protection, and fulfillment solutions.
In this position, the engineer will construct applications handling replacements, refunds, and reverse logistics, managing projects independently from design through deployment and monitoring. The role is suited for a software professional experienced in full-stack development, AWS serverless systems, and production AI integrations who wants to build scalable merchant tools used by major brands. Responsibilities include creating event-driven applications, building single-page applications with modern state management, and working with senior engineering teams on system design. The compensation for this position ranges from $140,000 to $160,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Develop and release features across fulfillment and servicing operations independently
- Manage features from design through building, deployment, release, and monitoring
- Deliver scalable, event-driven, AI-native applications
- Create single-page applications and oversee client and server state management
- Collaborate with senior engineers and platform teams on system design and risk evaluation
- Construct, test, and monitor AI and agentic features in production environments
- Utilize AI developer tools daily and share effective workflows with teammates
- Identify and execute proactive improvements including refactors and observability updates
- Communicate across product, design, solutions, and engineering teams
Requirements
- 4+ years of full-stack experience
- Hands-on experience building production systems on AWS including serverless
- Demonstrated experience shipping AI and LLM features to production
- Understanding of API design, versioning, idempotency, and backwards compatibility
- Experience owning features end to end through ambiguous problems
- Experience building production single-page applications with modern state management
- Sound data modeling skills and understanding of context engineering for agentic features
- Daily fluency with AI developer tooling
- Ability to communicate clearly across cross-functional teams
