Figma is hiring a Software Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 in London, United Kingdom. As an on-site intern, you will join compact, cooperative engineering units to develop real-world product capabilities, internal tools, or infrastructure systems. Figma builds a collaborative design platform that assists teams throughout the entire product lifecycle—from early brainstorming and prototyping to code translation and AI iteration.
This position is designed for students or aspiring technologists who want to shape the future of design technology. When applying, candidates can specify their preferences across multiple engineering tracks, including Product, Platform and Infrastructure, Security Engineering, or an open track for those still exploring. Throughout the internship, participants are paired with a dedicated mentor and work alongside cross-functional peers like product managers, designers, and QA professionals to plan, build, and ship impactful features by the end of the term.

Responsibilities
- Operate as a full member of a small engineering team with an individual project and mentor
- Contribute to initiatives that align directly with team goals
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and QA to break down features and plan timelines
- Build, document, and maintain tests, features, or infrastructure
- Share feedback and take part in peer code reviews
- Deliver assigned projects by the end of the internship term
Requirements
- Write clean code in at least one general-purpose programming language such as C++, JavaScript, Python, or Java
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of core computer science concepts including data structures and algorithms
- Keep video interview cameras turned on during the hiring process
- Attend in-person onboarding if hired
Qualifications
- Show experience resolving technical challenges via coursework, professional work, or personal projects
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude for writing, debugging, and optimizing code
- Display curiosity regarding how systems are designed and operate from infrastructure to user interfaces
- Demonstrate strong communication skills with a willingness to ask questions and learn from feedback
