Figma is hiring a Software Engineer Intern for the Winter 2027 term. Figma builds a collaborative platform that allows teams to brainstorm, prototype, translate designs into code, and iterate with artificial intelligence. In this position, the intern will integrate into a small engineering team, matched according to their individual background and preferences, ranging from product development to backend systems, infrastructure, and security engineering.
Selected candidates will work alongside teammates and mentors to deliver operational features, tools, or systems. Engineering intern applicants can choose to focus on product workflows, distributed systems, or security tooling. The position is based on-site with required in-person onboarding.
Responsibilities
- Join a Figma engineering team as a fully integrated member
- Contribute to tasks that align directly with organizational goals
- Partner with engineers, product managers, designers, and quality assurance staff to plan timelines and break down features
- Develop, document, and maintain system tests, features, and infrastructure
- Exchange feedback and take part in peer code reviews
- Complete and ship project work prior to the conclusion of the internship
Requirements
- Write clean code in at least one general-purpose programming language such as Python, Java, C++, or JavaScript
- Demonstrate a firm grasp of core computer science fundamentals, including algorithms and data structures
- Solve technical problems through personal projects, coursework, or professional experience
- Communicate effectively, ask questions, collaborate with peers, and accept constructive feedback
- Attend the required in-person onboarding

- Prior experience utilizing AI-assisted development platforms like ChatGPT, Claude, or GitHub Copilot for coding, debugging, and optimization
