Databricks is seeking a remote Solutions Architect (L5) to guide the technical strategy and platform adoption for retail, consumer goods, travel, and hospitality clients. Databricks operates as a data and AI company, providing a unified platform utilized by over 20,000 organizations worldwide.

In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor to technical leaders and engineering teams, managing the complete technical lifecycle from initial discovery through production deployment. You will lead discussions on scalable architectures involving real-time analytics, machine learning, and data engineering while positioning Databricks as the core of the customer's strategy.

This position suits professionals with a strong background in solutions architecture, technical pre-sales, or data engineering who possess coding proficiency in Python and SQL. You will also coordinate cross-functional resources, help shape product direction based on customer requirements, and cultivate a domain specialization within your team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end technical strategy for assigned accounts from discovery to production deployment and growth
  • Lead complex architectural discussions centered on scalable solutions for data engineering, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and real-time analytics
  • Advise customer engineering leads, technical directors, and architects as a trusted expert
  • Win competitive technical scenarios by showcasing custom-built solutions that demonstrate platform differentiation
  • Establish and declare an emerging technical specialization to serve as a resource for the wider team
  • Coordinate cross-functional resources including partners, solution specialists, and data science specialists
  • Supply structured feedback regarding customer needs and competitive gaps to influence product direction

Requirements

  • Have at least six years of professional experience in solutions architecture, technical pre-sales, data engineering, or a senior hands-on technical role
  • Demonstrate strong coding proficiency in Python and SQL including live coding, solution-building, and debugging capabilities
  • Possess deep expertise in distributed data systems architecture such as lakehouse patterns, streaming architectures, scalable pipelines, and cloud-native data platforms
  • Demonstrate proficiency on the Databricks platform or show an ability to achieve proficiency rapidly with a developing technical focus area
  • Show a proven capability to lead design reviews, whiteboarding sessions, and trade-off analyses with senior technical stakeholders
  • Bring experience handling infrastructure, security, and governance considerations during public cloud production deployments across AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Demonstrate a track record of expanding platform consumption and driving adoption within accounts

Qualifications

  • Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a quantitative discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • Earned Databricks certifications such as Platform, ML, or Data Engineer
  • Possess experience working with competitive platforms including Azure Synapse, AWS native services, or Snowflake
  • Bring a background originating from a cloud provider or a data and AI company
  • Possess domain expertise in industries such as Retail, Financial Services, Media, or Healthcare
