In this capacity, the incoming team member will collaborate alongside product, finance, and engineering divisions to build predictive models, optimize internal operations, and shape the consumer journey. The position provides the freedom to navigate ambiguous scenarios while maintaining high technical engineering standards. Responsibilities
- Develop early-stage machine learning models and write complex SQL queries to demonstrate value quickly in a zero-to-one environment
- Manage the complete lifecycle of predictive models from data extraction and feature engineering to deployment, A/B testing, and ongoing monitoring
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and finance groups to translate technical outputs into actionable insights
- Produce clean, modular code and engage in peer code reviews to maintain team standards
- Break down complex project objectives into structured milestones
- Guide and mentor junior analysts and data scientists
Requirements
- Bring five or more years of practical background in data science or machine learning engineering
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in Python and SQL
- Use standard data science libraries such as pandas, NumPy, and scikit-learn
- Work with standard machine learning frameworks including PyTorch, XGBoost, or LightGBM
- Operate within cloud-based platforms like AWS or GCP
- Apply version control using Git, handle CI/CD workflows, and follow ML Ops principles
Qualifications
- Hold a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, or possess equivalent practical background in a quantitative field such as data science, statistics, computer science, economics, or applied mathematics
- Demonstrate past success launching early-stage machine learning models into reliable production pipelines
- Show expertise in customer behavior and propensity modeling including churn, lead scoring, and lifetime value
- Possess applied forecasting background in time-series analysis or anomaly detection
- Have experience building optimization engines for marketing spend, inventory management, or resource allocation
- Understand causal inference and experimental design
