MaintainX is hiring a Sr. Director, MaintainX AI for a full-time, remote role in the United States. The leader will set the company's AI strategy and build the organization that carries it out. MaintainX offers a mobile-first system for running work, aimed at industrial and frontline crews. The company says more than 13,000 customers rely on it, that it manages 13.9 million assets, and that it has completed 79.5 million work orders.
MaintainX joined Autodesk in August 2026 and now sits within Autodesk Operations Solutions. The posting frames the mission as keeping the physical world running by equipping the people who maintain factories, fleets, hospitals and campuses with dependable tools.
The role spans three areas. Work Intelligence focuses on conversational and agentic AI that helps frontline teams plan and carry out jobs, handle parts stock and surface insights. Asset Intelligence converts machine and sensor data into predictive models, recommendations and automated workflows that cut downtime and labor costs. GTM Intelligence builds AI agents and internal tools for sales, service and operations, including the Atlas data layer that links internal knowledge with outside signals.
Day to day, the leader sets a multi-year product direction with staged milestones and key performance indicators, guides the architecture of retrieval-augmented generation and evaluation systems, and oversees pipelines that can process very large volumes of text and video. The job also includes hiring and developing technical leaders, working with product, design and go-to-market teams, and representing MaintainX as an AI thought leader to executives and customers.
The ideal candidate has more than twelve years of applied AI and machine learning work, including seven years leading teams at fast-scaling, data-focused technology firms, and a record of deploying deep learning systems at scale.
Responsibilities
- Set the long-term AI product and platform direction, using staged milestones and key performance indicators
- Encourage every engineer to bring agentic AI tools into feature development
- Turn AI research, such as anomaly detection and remaining-useful-life estimation, into production capabilities
- Direct how agentic AI platforms are designed and built, including retrieval-augmented generation and evaluation systems
- Oversee ingestion and inference pipelines that handle very large volumes of text and video
- Deliver predictive models across tabular, vibration, IoT and multimodal sensor data while balancing speed and reliability
- Grow a large, effective AI group that brings together platform, ML and product teams
- Work with product, design and go-to-market teams on customer pilots, AI messaging and pricing
Requirements
- More than 12 years of applied AI or machine learning experience, with at least 7 years leading teams at fast-scaling, data-focused tech firms
- Proof of taking deep learning systems live at scale across ranking, anomaly detection, forecasting or multimodal problems
- History of building AI and ML teams and hiring senior technical leaders
- Depth in at least one of: multimodal ML, MLOps or agentic AI frameworks
- Comfortable moving between architecture reviews and C-suite strategy work
- Entrepreneurial approach that handles ambiguity well and balances long-range vision with immediate delivery
- Strong communication skills for executives and for technical and non-technical audiences
