CentralReach is hiring a Senior Software Engineer where Ruby on Rails is the main skill. Day to day, the engineer contributes to architecture decisions, unblocks teammates and writes maintainable, easy-to-refactor code while staying hands-on with Ruby on Rails plus TypeScript and React. The job also involves shaping back-end services, APIs and data pipelines with performance and dependability in mind, writing efficient SQL for relational databases such as Postgres and MySQL, and building responsive front ends with CSS. The engineer leads projects from planning to delivery, raises risks early and works with product, design and QA.

Responsibilities
- Shape technical direction for the Essentials squad, including architecture decisions and unblocking teammates
- Write clean, maintainable code and raise quality through code review and pair programming
- Design and tune server-side systems, APIs and data flows for performance and reliability
- Build responsive front-end experiences with React, TypeScript and CSS
- Write efficient SQL and shape data models for relational databases
- Lead projects end to end and communicate trade-offs and risks clearly
- Partner with product, design and QA teams to convert business needs into technical solutions
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools and identify where LLMs and automation fit, with safeguards suited to healthcare data
Requirements
- Seven to ten years of full-stack development work, where Ruby on Rails is the main skill
- Five or more years of React experience preferred
- Experience leading projects from planning through delivery
- Daily fluency with AI development tools, with judgment about where human review is essential
- Strong organization, attention to detail and clear communication
Qualifications
- Experience with LLM APIs, or a real interest in working with them, including prompt design and evaluation
- Mentoring experience, from pair programming to architectural guidance
