Job Description
Jobber builds software that helps small home service businesses schedule work, send invoices and take payments. This staff-level data engineering role sits in the Data Platform team, within the Data Integration group. That group's purpose is to get the right data to the right teams at the right time, so they can deliver value faster.
The Data Integration group moves data in, including streaming changes from source systems into Snowflake tables. It also manages data activation and outbound flows, runs the systems that move and transform data, provides self-serve tooling, and looks after integrity and governance. The Staff Data Engineer designs and maintains batch and real-time pipelines and anticipates where the platform needs to go. The role sets testing and reliability standards, including service targets for uptime, recovery time and recovery point, and writes disaster recovery playbooks. It also builds observability, lineage and audit tooling, and creates self-service tools that reduce demand on the platform team. The engineer partners with technical programme managers on roadmaps, works with staff engineers across domains, and mentors engineers at all levels.
The posting calls for practical work with batch and streaming frameworks, lakehouse or warehouse management, dimensional modelling and workflow orchestration. Candidates should be able to build scalable systems using containers, CI/CD pipelines and APIs, and should know the AWS services relevant to data. Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation, plus strong observability practice, is expected. The team runs an on-call rotation in one-week shifts, and time off in lieu is given after out-of-hours incidents. The posted salary range is CAD 169,200 to 228,900, with a midpoint of CAD 199,100.
