The company is currently hiring a Staff Data Scientist for its Ads Delivery team to shape consumer-facing and business-facing product offerings. In this position, the professional will apply quantitative modeling, experimentation, and algorithmic expertise to address complex engineering tasks. The chosen candidate will partner closely with engineering, product, design, research, and data analytics groups to enhance product development and bring scientific rigor to real-world applications utilized by hundreds of millions of users.
This role suits an experienced data scientist who excels at evaluating full-funnel opportunities and risks within web-scale architectures. The individual will design machine learning and evaluation frameworks, champion rigorous experimentation, and mentor both junior and senior scientists. Pinterest requires this employee to work from the San Francisco, Palo Alto, or Seattle office for in-person collaboration one to two times per week, making it necessary for applicants to live within commutable distance of these locations.

Responsibilities
- Analyze Pinterest ads delivery to measure full-funnel risks and opportunities
- Lead projects addressing ads delivery across various funnel stages
- Build and productionize evaluation and machine learning frameworks covering forecasting, causal inference, and recommendations
- Promote rigorous instrumentation, metric design, and experimentation while linking proxy metrics to long-term business results
- Partner with cross-functional teams including design, engineering, research, business, and product to turn data questions into business insights
- Mentor senior and junior scientists to foster technical excellence and intellectual curiosity
Requirements
- Ten or more years of hands-on background working in web-scale data environments
- Proficiency in statistical modeling, causal inference, machine learning, and product strategy
- Coding capability in Python or R alongside advanced SQL and Spark skills
- Capacity to work in-person from the Seattle, San Francisco, or Palo Alto office one to two days per week

- Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
