Job Description

Zoox is seeking a Staff Logistics Engineer to take charge of building out the logistics function for a major vehicle program. In this role, you will oversee everything from inbound planning and internal warehousing to outbound transportation and logistics engineering, guiding the process from early facility creation all the way to production. You will also act as the primary liaison and senior logistics leader working with a major international manufacturing partner handling body shop and metallic components. This position reports directly to the Logistics Engineering Manager.

This opportunity is well-suited for a professional who can serve as the sole point of accountability for logistics on a large program. The ideal candidate has previously steered a logistics organization through start of production at a greenfield or brownfield site, successfully managed new product launches within complex automotive manufacturing settings, and maintained executive-level relationships with manufacturing partners. Travel is required for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end design, layout, and operational launch of new logistics programs encompassing inbound planning, internal material flow, warehousing, outbound transportation, and industrial engineering.
  • Act as the primary contact and senior logistics leader for an international manufacturing partner during onsite workshops, steering meetings, and executive sessions.
  • Drive logistics readiness throughout the site lifecycle from initial facility build-out and site selection through new product launch and production start.
  • Formulate a complete logistics launch plan for program gate reviews to identify and resolve schedule, capacity, and material flow risks.
  • Conduct regular onsite visits to international partner facilities for leadership reviews, kickoffs, and technical workshops.
  • Implement 5S methodologies, visual management, standard work, and inventory control processes for a high-turn service environment.
  • Partner with IT and Systems departments to define needs for Warehouse Management Systems and inventory tracking tools across the network.

Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Operations, or a related field.
  • Bring 12 or more years of leadership experience in logistics, industrial engineering, supply chain, or operations within the automotive sector.
  • Demonstrate hands-on experience launching logistics operations for greenfield or brownfield manufacturing sites from initial build-out to production start.
  • Show proven background in launching new products or programs in complex manufacturing facilities.
  • Possess analytical skills covering build-location trade studies, transportation cost modeling, and infrastructure planning.
  • Be willing and able to travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience collaborating with contract or co-development vehicle manufacturers.
  • Familiarity with enterprise resource planning and logistics platforms like SAP or S/4HANA.
  • Professional certification such as APICS, ASCM, CPIM, CSCP, CLTD, or PMP.
  • Background working in advanced-technology manufacturing fields such as autonomous vehicles or robotics.
