Job Description

Deepgram sells live APIs covering speech recognition, speech synthesis and voice agent creation, delivered via cloud or self-hosted software. The listing says over 200,000 developers and more than 1,300 organizations ship products on its technology, and that it has transcribed more than a trillion words.

The Staff Product Manager, AI Applications would set direction for Deepgram's own consumer-facing AI products, which bring its voice models directly to knowledge workers and everyday users. The listing describes these applications as a new revenue line. The person decides which products belong in the line, who they serve and how they earn money, then owns the roadmap and its tradeoffs. The VP of Self-Serve is the direct manager.

The work covers growth end to end, including acquisition, activation, retention and monetization, measured through weekly reviews of product health and profitability. The person represents the product to partners and customers, sets a team rhythm of hypotheses, releases and honest measurement, and uses Deepgram staff as the first testers.

The posting asks for a launched consumer or prosumer app that users selected and paid for, strong and provable AI skills, and experience building from zero. Technical depth, design sense and a habit of checking metrics before trusting them are expected. Native app work, distribution partner launches and real-time voice experience are advantages. Regular use of AI is a core expectation for all staff.

Responsibilities

  • Define the AI applications strategy, covering which products to build, for whom, and why they will succeed, then document and defend it to executives
  • Own roadmap decisions, including launch order and tradeoffs, for current and future applications
  • Drive the funnel from first contact to paid use, covering acquisition, activation, retention and revenue, backed by targets and weekly tracking
  • Be the product voice for partners and customers and stand behind delivery dates
  • Lead the team's cadence of experiments, releases, measurement and next bets, using real usage as the standard
  • Coordinate daily with research, engineering, design and marketing, and bring user perspective to decisions
  • Use prototypes, mockups and wireframes to communicate ideas and test them

Requirements

  • Strong product judgment: deciding under uncertainty and leading cross-functional work without formal authority
  • Shipped a consumer or prosumer app that users chose and paid for, owning its funnel and business
  • Experience taking a product from idea to a first version that real users adopted
  • Proven AI fluency through shipped work, with clear views on model strengths, failures and verification
  • Technical depth to discuss models, latency, privacy and platform choices with engineers
  • Design sense for simple interfaces, communicated through mockups and prototypes
  • Skepticism toward metrics until they are validated
  • Clear executive communication that leads with decisions and holds steady under pushback

Qualifications

  • Native desktop or mobile app development on Windows, macOS or iOS
  • Launching products through distribution partners
  • Experience with voice, audio or low-latency streaming systems
  • Experience at a company with both self-serve and enterprise sales motions
