The company is currently hiring a Staff Software Engineer for the Android platform to head advertising development on the next-generation application. This position suits an experienced developer who can establish technical direction for in-app ads, ensuring a privacy-focused and scalable platform that aligns with family usage.
In this role, the engineer will create a reusable advertising layer, deliver various ad formats such as display, native, and video, and integrate consent mechanisms alongside the legal and privacy departments. The position also involves shaping the architecture of a Kotlin and Jetpack Compose application, improving performance, and collaborating closely with design, product, data, and brand teams. TeamSnap operates as a fully remote enterprise and expects candidates to collaborate effectively across time zones while holding permanent US residency.
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve the Android advertising platform as a tested and reusable layer
- Deploy display, native, and video advertisements that blend naturally with the application
- Integrate privacy and consent directly into the advertising stack in collaboration with legal and privacy teams
- Optimize application performance for fast loading, smooth rendering, and usability
- Collaborate with product, design, data, and advertising departments to define roadmaps and measure engagement and revenue
- Contribute to the wider architecture of the Kotlin and Jetpack Compose application, focusing on modularization and build health
- Lead cross-team technical projects using RFCs, design documents, and hands-on implementation while mentoring engineers
Requirements
- Extensive background in developing and releasing Kotlin Android applications at scale with Staff-level or equivalent technical leadership experience
- Deep practical knowledge of Google Ad Manager on Android, including custom native formats, ad lifecycle, key-value targeting, and refresh
- Experience with ad verification and measurement tools such as IAS, DoubleVerify, or Open Measurement SDK
- Strong proficiency in modern Android tech stack including Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Flow, Hilt, and multi-module architecture
- Demonstrated history of designing systems from the ground up and guiding them through multi-team launches
Qualifications
- Experience deploying video ads utilizing ExoPlayer, Media3, or the Google IMA SDK
- Familiarity with live stream ads, server-side ad insertion, ad breaks, or Amazon IVS
- Background in building family or youth-oriented applications with knowledge of COPPA regulations
- Experience with BLE hardware integrations or subscription models like Play Billing, RevenueCat, and Superwall
