Robinhood is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to guide its Brokerage Infrastructure group. The organization builds platforms that handle order processing, account management, and high-volume transactions during critical market events. In this position, you will lead a team of more than ten engineers while defining the technical vision for tier-zero systems.
This role is designed for senior technologists with a background in mission-critical applications and team leadership. You will drive platform modernization, establish reliability standards, and manage relationships with cross-functional stakeholders. The position operates on a hybrid schedule requiring attendance three days per week.

Responsibilities
- Define and execute the technical vision and roadmap for tier-zero order processing and account management systems.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of over ten engineers at various seniority levels.
- Drive modernization initiatives and resolve core storage bottlenecks.
- Manage reliability and uptime key performance indicators, including subsecond order latency service level objectives and rapid incident recovery.
- Collaborate across infrastructure and product teams to enforce reliability standards and align on technical strategy.
- Identify scalability risks, champion preventative solutions, and coordinate incident response.
- Shape hiring, onboarding, and engineering culture as the platform scales.
Requirements
- Ten or more years of professional engineering experience.
- Several years of experience operating at the staff level.
- Prior team lead experience managing a team of approximately ten or more engineers.
- Deep expertise with tier-zero or mission-critical systems operating at millions to tens of millions of queries per second.
- Demonstrated background leading architectural migrations or modernization efforts such as language rewrites or storage improvements.
- Experience maintaining system correctness and reliability in high-accountability production environments like financial order execution.
