Pinterest operates a digital platform where global users discover creative concepts, visualize new ideas, and plan future projects. The company is currently hiring a Staff Software Engineer, Programmatic Ads to join its team on a full-time basis in Seattle.
In this role, the engineer will work within the Programmatic Ads group, focusing on OpenRTB integrations with external demand partners such as DSPs and SSPs. Responsibilities center on optimizing performance metrics including latency, conversion, engagement, and fill rates, as well as developing internal tools for cross-functional groups. The position requires leading partner integrations, guiding the full software development lifecycle from initial concept through release, and utilizing A/B testing to drive iterations.
This position requires leveraging artificial intelligence tools to accelerate team execution, system design, and decision-making while applying careful judgment to validate outputs. The ideal candidate will also mentor junior engineers and maintain high production and technical standards. Candidates must be able to work in-person at the Seattle office once per month. Responsibilities
- Lead one or two partner integrations with external demand partners via OpenRTB
- Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and external partners to translate business needs into technical designs
- Manage the complete software development lifecycle independently, covering ideation, prototyping, development, and release
- Drive problem-solving initiatives and product iterations through A/B testing
- Apply artificial intelligence to speed up execution, system design, and decisions while validating correctness
- Mentor junior team members and deliver design and code feedback
- Build internal tools to support cross-functional teams
Requirements
- Seven or more years of hands-on backend software engineering experience in large-scale distributed systems
- Experience working with ad serving platforms, ad exchanges, supply-side platforms, or demand-side platforms
- Demonstrated ability to use artificial intelligence to enhance team execution and system design while maintaining output quality
- Track record of critically evaluating and verifying AI-assisted work
- Ability to commute to the Seattle office for in-person collaboration once per month
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Demonstrated experience transforming engineering workflows using artificial intelligence from pilot projects to broad adoption
