micro1 is seeking a STEM Expert to contribute to an artificial intelligence training project on a contractor basis. This fully remote position offers a flexible schedule requiring approximately 15 hours per week, allowing independent professionals to choose their working days and hours, including weekends. The role is heavily focused on coding and requires professionals who utilize coding agents within their daily workflows.
The position involves tackling complex technical challenges, analyzing data, applying scientific reasoning, and utilizing Python for various calculations and simulations. Experts will be responsible for evaluating and validating technical problems within specific domains such as chemistry, biology, mathematics, physics, earth science, geoscience, environmental science, robotics, or other closely related quantitative fields. Candidates do not need mastery across every scientific discipline, but must possess deep knowledge in at least one relevant area.
Compensation for this engagement is output-based, with pay determined per task meeting the project specifications rather than a fixed hourly rate, though the project indicates a rate range of $60 to $120 per hour. The hiring process consists of screening questions, an AI interview lasting about 30 minutes, and a review by the hiring manager. Selected candidates must be prepared to begin work immediately and complete their first task within 24 to 48 hours following onboarding.
Responsibilities

- Examine AI-generated solutions to check for factual, scientific, and mathematical accuracy
- Detect flawed assumptions, reasoning flaws, overlooked constraints, and subtle technical errors
- Employ Python to execute simulations and calculations
- Fulfill minimum submission requirements on an output-based payment structure
Requirements
- Deep expertise in at least one relevant STEM or scientific domain
- Practical proficiency with Python or alternative coding languages
- Demonstrated scientific, quantitative, or mathematical problem-solving capability
- Prior experience integrating coding agents into workflows
- Availability to start tasks within 24 to 48 hours after completing onboarding
Qualifications
- Expertise gained through academic research, industry experience, engineering, teaching, or independent technical work
