Job Description

Canonical is hiring mid-senior Talent Scientists for remote, full-time work in the EMEA region. The role supports the Talent Science team, which partners with the company's hiring leaders to make candidate selection objective, rigorous and efficient, whoever the candidate is and wherever they live.

The posting is explicit that this is not a recruiter role. Instead, the job applies scientific thinking to talent and performance, sharing insight across the business so teams can pick the best candidates from a worldwide pool. Talent Scientists help hiring leads deliver initiatives, automation and good practice, and provide expert judgement on assessment methods.

Daily work includes running in-depth behavioural interviews, providing live talent analytics, watching hiring progress against the agenda, and reviewing tools and processes for steady improvement. The role also weighs how candidates feel about the process, works with outside platforms to secure value, and promotes diversity and inclusion in sourcing and selection.

The ideal person has a psychology-based degree, a data-first outlook, and the ability to find patterns using SQL, Python, BI tools or statistics. Experience hiring in technology or consulting is valued, along with psychometric assessment know-how and statistical methods such as significance testing and predictive modelling.

Requirements

  • Excellent academic background, with a bachelor's or master's degree in psychology or a related field
  • Enthusiasm for applying scientific methods to how talent is chosen
  • Strong behavioural interviewing, covering competency interviews and psychometric tests
  • Analytical problem-solving, spotting trends with SQL, statistics, Python or BI tools
  • Highly data-driven outlook that delivers measurable outcomes
  • Experience hiring talent in technology or consulting
  • Can coach hiring stakeholders and give advice on interview technique
  • Strong self-organisation and drive to work remotely
  • Willing to attend company events two to four times a year, each up to two weeks

Qualifications

  • Experience in sourcing and headhunting, including coaching senior leaders on how to find top people
  • Knowledge of significance testing, Bayesian inference, predictive analytics or machine learning
  • Familiarity with DISC profiling, Superset and Greenhouse, or with LinkedIn Talent Insights
  • Understanding of psychometric validity and reliability measures
