Job Description
Canonical is hiring a Talent Scientist (Graduate Lead) for a remote, full-time position in the EMEA region. The role is part of the Talent Science group, which seeks to make hiring evidence-based, rigorous and efficient, so the company picks the best new people wherever they come from.
The posting stresses that this is a science role, not a recruiting job. The focus is on modernising how the company brings in graduates: forging partnerships with leading universities across the world and attracting top early-career talent. The lead would also support business-side hiring leaders with analytics and dashboards that give live insight into their decisions.
Duties include running in-depth behavioural interviews, monitoring hiring activity against agreed goals, and reviewing and tightening processes and tools. The role also looks after how candidates experience the process, the company's employer brand and the value gained from outside platforms, and works to remove unconscious bias through sourcing and selection.
The ideal candidate has worked in technology hiring with a clear understanding of graduate recruitment, works fluently with data including SQL, and has a background in psychology or another people-focused discipline. Strong self-organisation for remote work is essential.

- Build university partnerships to raise awareness of graduate opportunities
- Design a compelling offer that encourages top students to apply
- Use talent analytics to provide real-time insight and help hiring teams work faster

- Turn data into insight that supports sound hiring decisions
- Review and improve hiring processes and tooling
- Work with outside vendors and platforms to get the best return
- Champion diversity and inclusion by removing bias from hiring and sourcing
Requirements
- Strong academic background from school and university, with a bachelor's or master's degree in psychology or a people-focused subject
- Hands-on hiring experience within technology, with informed views on graduate recruitment
- Experience leading graduate hiring at regional or global scale
- Data-driven approach that produces measurable results, with SQL skills
- Analytical capacity to assess outcomes and build dashboards
- Enthusiasm for selecting talent with scientific methods and forecasting hiring results
- Experience running behavioural and competency-based interviews and coaching others to do so
- Strong personal organisation and self-motivation to work remotely
- Willing to attend company events two to four times annually, each up to two weeks
Qualifications
- Familiarity with psychometric testing, including interpreting results
- Working knowledge of platforms such as Greenhouse, LinkedIn, Superset, Thomas International or DISC
