Job Description
Canonical is recruiting Telecom Account Executives for full-time, remote sales positions. The company names particular focus areas: the Middle East, the DACH countries, the Nordic region, Eastern Europe and the USA, and notes that a working command of the local language is preferred. Sales openings exist in every region.
Canonical sells open source software and operating systems to enterprises and tech companies, with Ubuntu as the foundation. The product range extends beyond the OS into software-defined storage, private cloud, container runtimes, databases, message queues, identity tools, observability, analytics, machine learning tooling and web publishing. Buyers include large multinationals and young startups.
The job is quota-driven. Each account executive owns a bookings target in a set territory, draws up a plan for that area, prospects for new business and closes deals to hit quarterly and annual goals. Pipeline data and forecasts live in Salesforce and must stay current. The role also involves working with field engineers to shape proposals and with customer success staff to find growth opportunities.
The company says it looks for empathy with customers, high intellect, a passion for technology, teamwork and energy. This suits a seasoned seller of enterprise software or technology who works well without close supervision and is comfortable travelling for client visits, industry conferences and company gatherings.
