Job Description
Tupande's Soko factories in Sagana, Kenya, are recruiting an engineering and maintenance lead on a two-year fixed-term contract. The role aims to raise maintenance standards across all three factories and reduce processing downtime. Within 90 to 120 days of joining, the lead is expected to set up a computerized maintenance management system, design preventive schedules, and manage spare parts so critical items stay in stock.
The post also covers root-cause analysis, monthly KPI reporting to the Soko Director, moving the workforce toward technician-led maintenance, and food safety compliance.
Responsibilities
- Implement a CMMS across the three factories, owning the equipment hierarchy and work order process
- Design preventive maintenance schedules and aim for an 80:20 split of planned versus unplanned work within a year
- Manage spare parts levels, replenishment and stock for critical equipment
- Run root-cause analysis on major failures and follow each corrective action until it is finished
Requirements
- A relevant engineering degree, with Kenyan engineering registration required
- Experience designing preventive or predictive maintenance programs
- Mechanical and electrical fault diagnosis, tracing failures to their root cause on industrial equipment
- Ability to build KPI dashboards and report on maintenance performance
Qualifications
- Prior work on avocado oil equipment, dehydrators, macadamia processing or biochar output is preferred
- Understanding of HACCP and food safety rules as they apply to plant maintenance
