Job Description
A vacancy has opened for three Water & Sanitation Engineers to join the team in Harare. This on-site role involves taking charge of water supply, borehole, irrigation, and commercial pipeline initiatives across all stages, starting from the tender phase through construction, commissioning, and final handover. The successful candidates will manage project execution by coordinating drilling crews, contractors, suppliers, and on-site personnel while ensuring compliance with technical specifications and quality standards. Daily duties involve designing reticulation and distribution systems, sizing pumps, preparing tender bids, reviewing bills of quantities, and supervising pipeline installation. Qualified female engineers are strongly encouraged to submit their applications for consideration.
Responsibilities
- Design and plan water supply and reticulation networks
- Size, design, and oversee the installation of commercial pipelines
- Prepare tender documents, technical submissions, and manage bids
- Review specifications, tender drawings, and bills of quantities
- Supervise borehole drilling, development, and capacity testing
- Analyse pumping test data to recommend sustainable abstraction rates
- Determine pump specifications and oversee pump installations
- Manage pipeline installation including trenching, jointing, and pressure testing
- Design and supervise irrigation networks and water storage systems
- Monitor construction programmes, labour, materials, and project costs
- Conduct quality-control checks, site inspections, and client meetings
Requirements
- Hold a degree in Water Engineering, Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Irrigation Engineering, or a related discipline
- Accumulate a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience
- Demonstrate proven background in water supply and sanitation projects
- Show strong experience with borehole projects and pump installations
- Possess knowledge of hydraulic calculations and pump sizing
- Have experience with commercial water pipeline projects
- Display the ability to prepare and submit tenders
- Demonstrate strong project planning, execution, and site supervision abilities
- Be capable of interpreting engineering drawings and technical reports
Qualifications
- Professional engineering registration or eligibility for registration
- Familiarity with engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, EPANET, WaterCAD, or MS Project
- Background in large-scale irrigation schemes
- Experience working with solar-powered borehole pumping systems
- Familiarity with water treatment systems
- Experience managing municipal, government, or commercial tenders
- Possession of a valid driver's licence
