Wattpad is hiring a Business Finance (FP&A) Manager in Toronto to own the profit and loss picture for the company's overall business. The goal is to lift efficiency and profitability by judging spending and investment against the return each one produces, not by chasing quick cuts.
Core work covers the annual operating plan and strategic planning, plus forecasts and financial models that link strategy to measurable results. The manager also controls budgets and efficiency for technology spend, including hosting, software tools, cloud services and security products, and works to raise the return on marketing, content and paid subscription spending.
The manager writes business cases, reviews investments after they are made, and advises leaders across Wattpad on how income, cost drivers and profit margins behave. Google Workspace and Claude AI are expected to be used routinely to speed up reporting, analysis and planning.
The role is hybrid, with staff in the downtown Toronto office three days a week. The ideal candidate can handle tight deadlines, influence people across functions and keep work highly accurate. Responsibilities
- Take end-to-end ownership of the Wattpad P&L and spot inefficiencies that can improve profit
- Lead the annual operating plan and strategic planning with the wider finance group
- Build and maintain forecasts and financial models that connect the P&L to strategy
- Manage budgets and efficiency across technology spend such as hosting, software, cloud and security products
- Improve cost efficiency and returns across marketing spend, content investment and paid subscriptions
- Assess investments and vendor contracts on ROI, including business cases and reviews after launch
- Serve as a finance partner to Wattpad leaders on income, cost drivers and profit margins
- Put Google Workspace and Claude AI to work on reporting automation and sharper analysis
- Give Corporate Finance and leadership one-off analysis and decision support
Requirements
- At least 5 years in financial planning and analysis, business finance or corporate finance, including running P&Ls directly, building budgets and forecasts, and financial modeling
- Strong command of Microsoft Office tools (spreadsheets, slides, documents) and Google Workspace
- Keen interest in bringing Claude AI and similar assistants into finance tasks
- Firm grasp of how a P&L is built, ROI analysis and budget and cost control across technology spend
- Clear communicator who can win over stakeholders in other departments at all levels
- Thrives when deadlines are tight and precision still matters
- Undergraduate qualification in finance or accounting or business, or a closely related discipline
Qualifications
- Experience cutting SaaS, server and cloud or hosting costs through usage reviews and vendor talks
- Exposure to annual planning cycles and to working with engineering, product, marketing or content teams
- Work measuring marketing payoff, content return on investment or paid subscription models
- Korean and English bilingual skills
- An MBA, a master's in finance, or CPA credential
