Engineering here spans client-side work, platform and data teams, infrastructure, trust and safety tooling, monetization, and the foundations behind discovery and personalization.
The role is senior and leadership-focused, suited to someone who has directed several engineering teams and still engages with technical choices. The leader will help set the platform's technical direction together with other senior technologists, making sure the architecture can serve current products and the roadmap ahead.
Priorities include growing the engineering leadership bench, building data engineering capacity for tailored experiences, content analytics, controlled testing and AI, and sharpening planning, estimation and technical roadmap work. Responsibilities
- Lead and grow the engineering leadership group spanning architecture, client, platform and data engineering
- Set the platform's technical direction with senior technical leaders, keeping architecture ready for near-term and future needs
- Strengthen how engineering plans, estimates and maps its technical roadmap
- Expand data engineering capability to support tailored experiences, content analytics, controlled testing and AI
- Help teams balance pace, how well solutions scale, complexity and upkeep when making technical calls
- Develop managers and senior technical leaders so they can make decisions with more independence
- Improve operating routines so teams communicate clearly and respond well to incidents
Requirements
- Ten or more years of progressively senior software engineering work, including five or more years leading teams and senior engineers
- Experience leading a multi-team organization that spans application, infrastructure and data areas
- Deep technical knowledge and sound architectural judgment, including the ability to push back on senior engineers
- Experience working with data engineering and modern pipelines, warehouses and analytics infrastructure
- Record of raising planning, estimation, delivery, ownership and incident-response standards
- Strong people leadership and experience developing engineering managers
- Comfort making good calls under ambiguity and guiding teams through organizational or technical change
Qualifications
- Track record building a collaborative engineering culture that acts as a partner to the wider business
- Skill in adding engineering rigor through clear planning, decisions and accountability without heavy process
- No particular degree or certificate is needed, as equivalent hands-on experience counts
