Ghana Security Services Recruitment 2027: No New Portal

No — Ghana will not open the security services recruitment portal to new applicants in 2027. Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak told Parliament's Public Accounts Committee on 20 October 2026 that the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana National Fire Service and Ghana Immigration Service will instead recruit from people who already passed screening and medicals in the 2025/26 exercise but were not called for training. If you did not apply in 2025/26, there is no Interior-services application window to wait for next year.
What the Interior Minister announced
Appearing before the Public Accounts Committee with the heads of the security agencies, the minister said the decision followed a directive from the President. The key points reported by Graphic Online and Pulse Ghana are:
No new applicants in 2027: the Centralised Services E-Recruitment Portal (C-SERP) will stay closed to fresh applications next year.
The existing pool comes first: applicants who passed the 2025/26 aptitude test and medical screening but were left out because of limited places will be considered for the next intakes.
Funding decides the timing: the size and start date of the next batch depend on financial clearance from the Finance Ministry, which had not yet been secured.
A further 10,000 is being sought: the minister said he is pushing for approval to recruit another 10,000 personnel, but could not say when training would begin or how many would be picked.
Training runs in batches: recruits now in training are expected to finish by the end of December 2026, freeing space for the next group. Even with clearance for 20,000 or 30,000, training schools could not take everyone at once.
The minister also noted that the Police Service has about 50,000 personnel against an estimated need of 70,000 to 80,000 — so demand for recruits is real, but money and training capacity are the bottlenecks.
Why the portal is staying closed
The 2025/26 exercise produced far more qualified candidates than there were places. Based on figures the minister gave earlier in 2026:
The C-SERP portal was open from 17 November to 19 December 2025.
About 390,000 people applied across the four services.
Roughly 105,000 qualified for medical examinations, initially against about 5,000 places.
In May 2026 the minister said the President had asked for the intake to be doubled to 10,000.
With tens of thousands of medically cleared candidates still unplaced, the government's position is that it makes little sense to collect another round of application fees from new applicants. In March 2026 the minister had already said the data of candidates who passed medicals would be kept for future intakes, and that a long wait might mean repeating only the medical examination rather than the whole process.
Who this affects
If you passed medicals in 2025/26 but were not called
You are the group the next intakes will draw from. There is no published schedule yet, so:
Keep your C-SERP login details, voucher serial and PIN safe — you will need them to check your status.
Check your C-SERP dashboard regularly. During 2025/26 the Ministry said a change of status on the dashboard was the most reliable sign of genuine communication.
Keep your phone number active. Official SMS messages in 2025/26 came from the sender ID CSERP, not from private numbers.
Keep your documents ready: certificates, birth certificate or ID, and anything else requested at screening.
Stay fit and avoid anything that could fail a repeat medical or drug test.
If you passed but have now crossed the age limit
This was raised directly by the committee. The minister said the Ministry would deal with the issue when it arises and would consult his team before deciding. No rule has been announced, so treat any claim of an "age waiver" as unconfirmed until it comes from the Ministry of the Interior or the service itself.
If you became pregnant after passing medicals
Women in this position were told to return home and deliver. The Ministry says they will be considered in the next round.
If you did not apply in 2025/26
There is no new Police, Prisons, Fire or Immigration application window in 2027. Any website, WhatsApp group or "agent" offering 2027 forms for these four services is not official. Your options in the meantime:
Ghana Armed Forces: the military recruits separately under the Ministry of Defence, not through C-SERP. Its 2026/27 enlistment portal opened on 4 September 2026. Check GAF's own official notices for requirements and timelines.
Other public-sector routes: national service, the Youth Employment Agency and teaching or health postings run their own intakes — see our guides to NSS postings and the YEA allowance and registration.
Build your profile: improve your WASSCE grades if needed, get a first-aid or ICT certificate, and keep fit so you are ready when the portal reopens.
Beware of "protocol" and recruitment fee scams
A closed portal is exactly when fraudsters get busy. The Interior Minister has said publicly that nobody will be enlisted through so-called "protocol" without going through body selection, the aptitude test and medicals. During 2025/26 the Ministry also warned applicants to ignore text messages asking for money, saying any request for payment from an outside source is fraudulent.
Never pay anyone who promises a place in the Police, Fire, Prisons or Immigration service.
Ignore messages that do not come from the official CSERP sender ID or that ask you to pay into a mobile money number.
Do not share your C-SERP PIN or login with anyone, including people who say they can "push" your name.
Rely only on announcements from the Ministry of the Interior (mint.gov.gh) and the services' official channels.
Report suspected fraud to the nearest police station or the Ministry of the Interior.
Frequently asked questions
Will the Ghana Police recruitment portal open in 2027?
No. The Interior Minister said on 20 October 2026 that the portal will not open to new applicants in 2027. The Police, Prisons, Fire and Immigration services will recruit from qualified 2025/26 applicants who are still waiting.
I passed my medicals in 2025/26. When will I be called for training?
No date has been given. The next intake depends on financial clearance, and recruits currently in training are expected to finish by the end of December 2026. Watch your C-SERP dashboard and official SMS from the CSERP sender ID.
Does the decision affect the Ghana Armed Forces?
The announcement covers the four Interior Ministry services. The Ghana Armed Forces recruits separately; its 2026/27 enlistment portal opened on 4 September 2026.
Can someone get me into the service through protocol?
No. The minister has said applicants who skip the official process will not be enlisted. Anyone asking for money to secure a place is running a scam.
How many people will be recruited next?
The minister is seeking approval for another 10,000 personnel but has not confirmed the number or timing.
