Who should apply (and who should not)
These are not entry-level roles. Every post requires post-qualification experience, so fresh graduates will not meet the criteria. The IT Officer post best suits candidates who already work in cyber security operations, incident response, network security or GIS — the advertisement lists these as the focus areas, so your CV should show hands-on work in at least one of them.
Experience is normally counted from the date your qualifying degree was completed, so check your dates before applying. If you are a year short, it is better to wait for the next PTA round than to apply and be screened out.
How to apply for PTA jobs 2026: step by step
Go to ejobportal.pk and create an account (or log in if you already have one).
Find the PTA advertisement and open the post you want. Read the criteria once more against your degree and experience dates.
Fill in the form carefully. Incomplete or incorrect information can lead to disqualification, and false information can lead to cancellation of the contract later.
Upload scanned documents: degrees, transcripts, CNIC, experience certificates and domicile certificate.
Check recognition: only HEC-recognised degrees are accepted, and engineering degrees must also be recognised by the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).
Submit before the deadline and keep a screenshot or PDF of your submitted application.
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the test or interview, and no TA/DA is paid for attending. PTA may also change the number of posts or cancel the process at any stage.
Tips to strengthen your application
Match your CV to the work areas. For IT Officer, name the tools and tasks you have actually used (SIEM monitoring, log analysis, incident tickets, GIS mapping) rather than general IT duties. Our guide to the CV format for jobs in Pakistan shows how to lay this out.
Get experience letters on letterhead with clear start and end dates and job titles — vague letters are a frequent reason for rejection.
Apply under the right quota. Your domicile decides which seats you are eligible for.
Prepare for a technical test or interview covering networking, information security basics and, for civil works posts, construction and project supervision.
Beware of fake PTA job adverts and agents
PTA recruitment is done through the official advertisement and the named online portal. Do not pay anyone who promises a "confirmed" PTA job or asks for a processing fee through WhatsApp, and do not share your CNIC or bank details with unofficial pages. If in doubt, check the advertisement on PTA's official website, pta.gov.pk.
