Job Description
Tether is hiring an AI Harness Engineer for a full-time, fully remote role that is open to candidates worldwide. The position sits within Tether's technology work and centers on peer-to-peer technology for local AI assistants.
The work centers on building tools and modules that add new AI features and run reliably across many model sizes and types. The engineer will also write peer-to-peer components that support local AI, and keep code quality high through reviews, shared standards and automated tests.
The ideal candidate has at least five years of production software experience and deep familiarity with peer-to-peer systems, AI or LLM tooling, or both. Strong JavaScript and TypeScript skills are central, including experience managing complex state across sync protocols and agent loops.
Candidates should be comfortable designing for failure, including network splits, model faults, timeouts and retry logic. Experience building evaluation harnesses and test setups for systems whose outputs vary from run to run is also valued. The posting does not describe specific benefits.

Requirements
- At least five years building software in production, with substantial work on peer-to-peer systems, AI or LLM tooling, or both
- Practical experience creating agent harnesses that handle tool calls, agent loops, context handling and structured output
- Background in evaluation tooling and test setups for systems with non-deterministic behavior
- Strong JavaScript and TypeScript skills, including managing complex state across sync protocols and agent loops
- Experience designing for failure, covering network splits, faulty model output, timeouts and retries
Qualifications
- Prior open-source work on peer-to-peer, networking or AI tool projects
