Supabase is seeking an AI Platform Engineer to create the execution layer for internal artificial intelligence systems. As a member of a new central team, this role involves building a platform that operates agents securely and reliably across a globally distributed company of approximately 400 team members in more than 60 countries. The employer operates as a Postgres development platform providing a complete backend solution including databases, authentication, storage, edge functions, realtime capabilities, and vector search.
In this position, you will build and own the infrastructure end to end, creating an event-triggered queue, a headless model-agnostic runtime, durable state management, a human review gate, atomic rollback, and run logging. You will also develop the evaluation layer, construct agent portfolios, enforce strict governance in code, and design human-contact mechanisms. The role requires recursive thinking to build generators rather than static artifacts, and inversion thinking to structurally prevent dangerous actions through system design rather than simple prompts.
This opportunity suits an engineer with production-grade experience building LLM agent systems and end-to-end Python infrastructure on GCP. Candidates must have a history of designing structured evaluations and implementing deep API work, including Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers. The position operates on a fully remote basis with asynchronous flexibility.
Responsibilities
- Ship the agent platform to production including an event-triggered queue, model-agnostic runtime, durable state, human review gates, atomic rollback, and complete logging.
- Own the evaluation layer by implementing golden suites, behavioral assertions, judge rubrics, and CI regression blocks.
- Build and register reporting, drafting, linting, triage, and question-answering agents across multiple organizational layers.
- Enforce code-level governance such as risk tiers, least-privilege credentials, and decision audit logs.
- Design system contact structures with hard interruption budgets and message bundling.
- Manage platform tooling including compilers, validators, and context distribution paths.
- Compute operating measures from production activity to generate maturity grades for teams.
- Instrument a ledger tracking work absorbed by each agent to calculate monthly system value.
Requirements
- Shipped production LLM agent systems with operational history, real users, and incident management experience.
- Designed evaluations including golden sets, behavioral assertions, judge rubrics, and pass thresholds.
- Conducted deep API work against active systems and authored MCP servers.
- Owned infrastructure end to end using Python on GCP, cloud warehouses, and infrastructure as code.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated public work in the agent space such as open-source frameworks, evaluation harnesses, or reliability writing.
- Experience with LLM observability, cost instrumentation, trace runs, and spend attribution.
- Built internal platforms adopted voluntarily by non-engineers.
