This role focuses on empowering engineering squads to maintain their own infrastructure by creating frameworks, feedback loops, and standards rather than managing individual systems directly. Candidates will collaborate across departments to establish reliability metrics, conduct operational readiness reviews, improve postmortem procedures, and eliminate operational toil through automation.

Responsibilities
- Partner with service squads to establish customer-focused service level indicators and objectives
- Construct and manage error budget policies that guide engineering decisions
- Evolve the operational readiness review process for new services and significant system changes
- Enhance the incident-to-improvement pipeline by connecting postmortem findings to operational gaps
- Serve as a reliability consultant for architectural evaluations, failure mode analysis, and dependency mapping
- Identify operational toil and champion automation solutions to eliminate repetitive tasks
- Assist teams in designing sustainable on-call frameworks covering alert quality and runbook coverage
- Monitor and present organization-wide operational maturity metrics
Requirements
- Seven or more years of background in site reliability engineering, production engineering, or reliability-focused disciplines
- Software engineering perspective encompassing code writing and tool construction
- Practical experience operationalizing service level indicators and objectives at scale
- Background in incident response, postmortem facilitation, and systematic problem remediation
- Familiarity with large-scale multi-tenant architectures
- Proficiency in cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code tooling
- Clear communication abilities suited for distributed organizations
Qualifications
- Experience operating Kubernetes-based platforms
- Familiarity with observability tools such as VictoriaMetrics, OpenTelemetry, or Grafana
- History of building developer-facing reliability tools and metrics dashboards
- Previous work with managed database platforms or Postgres
- Experience working in globally distributed or asynchronous teams
