Job Description
Tamara is seeking an AML Transaction Monitoring Operations specialist for its Compliance team, as part of the Builders Program, in the United Arab Emirates. The job is full-time and on-site. The posting says only Emirati nationals are eligible, and the programme targets early-career candidates who want a lasting path in fintech.
The role supports core financial crime controls. These cover alert monitoring, KYC work, sanctions checks and investigations into suspicious activity. The specialist helps ensure alerts reach the MLRO in time and that suspicious transactions are reported to the UAE Financial Intelligence Unit as expected under Central Bank of the UAE rules and UAE federal AML law.
Day-to-day work includes reviewing and investigating alerts, documenting why each case is closed or escalated, and helping to tune monitoring rules to cut false positives. The post also covers onboarding checks for individual and corporate clients, deeper checks on higher-risk clients, including PEPs and people flagged in adverse media, and periodic refreshes of customer profiles.
Candidates should bring zero to two years in AML, CFT or financial-crime work, gained in financial services, fintech or banking. Some previous work on monitoring, sanctions screening or KYC processes is valued. Strong communication in Arabic and English is needed, and the employer expects audit-ready records.
Responsibilities
- Look into AML flags raised by the monitoring system and work each one to a conclusion
- Document the rationale for closing or escalating each case

- Carry out onboarding reviews to keep KYC records complete for individual and corporate customers
- Apply deeper checks to higher-risk clients, including PEPs and people flagged in adverse media
- Help refresh customer profiles on a regular cycle, scaled to risk
- Screen customers and counterparties against sanctions, PEP and adverse media watchlists
- Look into and close out possible sanctions hits under internal procedures
- Help the MLRO keep sanctions lists current and validate controls
- Take part in AML awareness sessions and routine control checks
Requirements
- Emirati national status, as required by the posting
- Zero to two years in AML, CFT or financial-crime work, gained in financial services, fintech or banking

- Understanding of AML and CFT frameworks, including suspicious transaction reporting
- Strong analytical and investigative skills
- Strong communication in Arabic and English
- Capacity to write up conclusions in a clear form that stands up to audit
Qualifications
- An undergraduate qualification in finance, law, business or an allied subject
- Familiarity with Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2018, plus any guidance issued under it, is a plus
