Coinbase is hiring a Privacy Analyst to manage its Privacy Incident Management operations. Operating as a remote-first organization with periodic in-person work sessions referred to as surges, Coinbase focuses on increasing economic freedom through its financial platform. This position reports directly to the Head of Privacy and collaborates closely with departments such as Privacy Legal, Security, Product, Engineering, and Communications.
The person in this role will take charge of handling personal data incidents, conducting privacy evaluations, and organizing remediation efforts. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguous situations, excels at cross-functional coordination during high-pressure events, and works effectively in a fast-paced environment. During quieter periods, the analyst will assist with wider privacy projects, tooling creation, and automation tasks.
Responsibilities include overseeing the complete privacy incident lifecycle, serving as the Incident Commander during response efforts, and maintaining on-call availability for urgent escalations and severity assessments. The position also involves leading retrospectives, tracking remediation items, monitoring control gaps, and providing metrics and reporting on trends and process health. Stakeholder relationship management across various geographies and departments is key to maintaining business accountability and response quality.
Responsibilities
- Manage the complete privacy incident management program including escalation workflows and process documentation
- Lead privacy incident response as the Incident Commander and designated responsible individual
- Maintain on-call availability for incident triage, severity classification, and urgent escalations
- Conduct privacy incident retrospectives, track remediation items, and deliver performance metrics and reports
- Foster stakeholder relationships across multiple functions and regions to support response readiness
- Assist with broader privacy initiatives, tool development, and automation projects during lower-volume periods
Requirements
- Minimum of three years of professional experience in privacy, security, incident response, technology risk, or operational risk
- Experience leading or supporting workflows that require structured analysis, documentation, and cross-functional coordination
- Demonstrated background in conducting technical investigations within cloud-native architectures
- Hands-on proficiency with data analysis tools and programming languages such as SQL, Python, Postgres, MongoDB, Airflow, Looker, and Snowflake
- Experience building automation solutions to decrease manual tasks and increase incident response efficiency
- Working knowledge of privacy frameworks, data subject rights, controls, and regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA, ePrivacy, and DPIAs
