SGS, a global leader in the Testing, Inspection and Certification sector, is seeking an Application Developer & Business Analyst. In this position, the professional will maintain, build, and enhance web platforms and applications that drive operational and technical procedures. The role involves analyzing business needs, converting them into functional IT solutions like minimum viable products and service enhancements, and directing the operational execution of IT sub-projects.
The chosen candidate will ensure that applications meet high standards of performance, security, usability, and quality while offering technical and functional support to laboratory and project teams. Serving as a liaison between operational management, business units, and other IT departments, the worker must follow the organization's Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct. Key duties include designing internal and client-facing web solutions, writing documentation and user guides, delivering user support, and communicating updates. Candidates should also maintain tidy work areas and adhere to company policies regarding safety, quality, human resources, and health.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, implement, and maintain internal and client-facing web applications
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into IT solutions, MVPs, and service enhancements
- Lead and coordinate operational planning and execution for IT sub-projects
- Ensure the security, reliability, maintainability, performance, and usability of applications
- Provide technical and functional support to end users across project teams and laboratories
- Act as a bridge between operational management, business units, and other technology teams
- Create user guides, documentation, and internal presentations to foster adoption
- Communicate updates, incident resolutions, and changes through briefings and bulletins
- Complete tasks assigned by leadership while keeping work areas clean and presentable
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT Development, or an equivalent technical qualification
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills in English at a C1 proficiency level
- Show proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Prioritize and manage tasks effectively under time constraints
- Comply with SGS policies concerning health, safety, HR, quality, and the Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct
Qualifications
- Possess professional or open-source experience in application development and IT solutions design
- Demonstrate expertise in programming languages, AI tools for software development, and project tools for software development
