The organization is currently hiring an ARG Engineering Manager for its Abuse Research Group. This position involves directing a multidisciplinary unit of detection engineers, threat intelligence analysts, and fraud researchers dedicated to uncovering emerging threat vectors and analyzing attacker behaviors.
In this capacity, the manager will define the research strategy, guide investigations involving fraud and malicious campaigns, and partner with internal divisions such as Risk, Trust & Safety, Fraud Platform, and Security Engineering to establish robust platform defenses. Responsibilities also include coordinating with external entities like law enforcement to counter high-impact actors, mentoring team members, and overseeing talent acquisition. This on-site role suits experienced engineering leaders with a background in security research, threat intelligence, or fraud mitigation who excel at driving complex investigative work.
Responsibilities
- Manage, develop, and mentor a team consisting of threat intelligence analysts, fraud researchers, and detection engineers
- Establish and implement the research strategy covering threat actor tracking, merchant ecosystem defense, fraud investigations, and automated detection engineering
- Offer technical guidance and analytical insight during intricate investigations involving account compromises, API key takeovers, and KYC bypass methods
- Convert research discoveries into operational detection rules, automated response systems, and cross-functional escalations
- Partner with Risk, Trust & Safety, Fraud Platform, and Security Engineering to integrate abuse research into platform protections
- Engage with outside stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, to disrupt and attribute significant threat actors
Requirements
- Possess ten or more years of experience directing security research or engineering teams, including a history of managing technical individual contributors in detection, intelligence, or investigative roles
- Demonstrate experience hiring, expanding, and leading technical teams, encompassing performance management
- Communicate effectively through written and verbal channels, with the ability to present operational or incident data to leadership
- Show familiarity with fraud and abuse trends related to fintech and payments
- Bring practical experience in threat intelligence tradecraft, covering OSINT, dark web collection, actor attribution, and structured intelligence frameworks such as ATT&CK or STIX/TAXII
- Maintain a strong grasp of threat actor tactics, techniques, and procedures
Qualifications
- Hold a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Computer Science, a related field, or possess equivalent experience in security
- Bring a background in threat intelligence, security research, or fraud detection engineering
- Demonstrate prior work experience or leadership within teams analyzing adversary behavior, building detection capabilities, or running intelligence programs
- Have technical fluency across threat intelligence, fraud signal creation, detection engineering, and OSINT
- Possess experience in payments, financial crime, or fintech
- Have experience managing technical research teams where investigations are ambiguous and do not fit traditional sprint velocity
