Coinbase seeks an Associate Manager, Internal Audit to join its remote-first team based in the United Kingdom. Operating as an independent risk-based function, the Internal Audit team evaluates governance, risk management, compliance, and control processes to protect the business, support regulatory readiness, and aid the company's mission of increasing economic freedom.
In this role, the selected candidate will take a lead position in executing Financial Crimes Compliance audits from planning to reporting and remediation validation. Responsibilities include scoping audits, driving process mapping, managing stakeholders, drafting executive summaries, and mentoring junior team members. The position reports directly to an Internal Audit Manager.
This opportunity is suited for professionals with extensive experience in audit, risk management, or financial crimes compliance who can independently manage audit engagements and guide team members. Employees should expect to participate in quarterly in-person working sessions known as surges.
Responsibilities
- Lead Financial Crimes Compliance audits from initial planning through reporting and validation
- Manage audit scoping, stakeholder interactions, fieldwork execution, and data analysis
- Conduct process mapping and assess control designs to spot operational gaps
- Collaborate with internal business leaders to review processes, risks, and internal controls
- Draft clear audit reports and executive summaries for senior leadership
- Coach team members on fieldwork execution, compliance standards, and workpaper quality
- Support infrastructure improvements and innovation in audit execution
Requirements
- Have at least six years of professional experience in risk management, compliance testing, financial crimes compliance, or audit
- Possess working knowledge of US, EU, and APAC anti-money laundering, sanctions, and terrorist financing regulations
- Demonstrate familiarity with data analysis methods for testing large datasets
- Show the ability to independently direct audit engagements and supervise staff members
- Utilize generative AI responsibly while maintaining human oversight for workflow efficiency
