Job Description
Monzo has opened a summer 2027 software engineering internship in London, with hybrid working of two days a week on site. The paid placement is £42,500 pro rata and sits at level L10 of the engineering framework. Applications close on 1 November 2026, with offers issued on a rolling basis, so earlier applicants are encouraged.
Interns join a team and spend the summer on a genuine customer project, supported by a mentor who helps them design and deliver a solution. Their work covers writing, testing and releasing code for new features, reviewing peers' changes, and working with PMs, designers and data analysts. The programme is designed to show what engineering looks like on a typical day at a bank.
The technology used includes Go for application code, Cassandra for most stored data and Kafka for message handling. Services run on Kubernetes and Docker, with AWS for most production systems and GCP for much of the data platform. React is used for customer-facing web apps and internal tooling, and Kotlin and Swift are used for the Android and iOS apps.
Applicants should be in the final stretch of a technical degree, such as computing, with programming experience and graduation due in 2028. They must commit full-time for twelve weeks or more in the June to September 2027 window, and two June start dates are on offer. Applicants need unrestricted permission to work in the UK for the whole internship. Selection includes a few application questions, a programming and problem-solving exercise, and final interviews with engineers.
