Bosch is seeking a senior technology and people leader for the role of Chapter Area Lead – Software Testing and Test Automation within the Bosch Digital Software Engineering Chapter Domain. This position is responsible for setting the professional direction, establishing testing methods and standards, growing personnel, and ensuring functional excellence across delivery organizations. The Chapter Area encompasses load and performance testing, test automation, functional testing, and test architecture. The ideal candidate will combine deep expertise in software quality with the capability to lead other leaders, shape a professional community, and operate at the intersection of people, technology, and business.
Key duties involve creating a clear capability strategy, evolving testing standards, coaching Chapter Leads, managing workforce planning and recruitment, and driving the cross-organizational adoption of reusable test frameworks. This on-site role requires extensive experience in software and quality engineering, strong communication abilities, and fluency in English. Responsibilities
- Formulate the capability strategy and roadmap for software testing and test automation based on business needs and technological trends.
- Establish and refine testing guardrails, reference practices, and standards while permitting team flexibility.
- Supervise, mentor, and foster the professional growth of Chapter Leads to build leadership capability and ownership.
- Execute workforce planning, recruitment, upskilling, and reskilling to address business demands.
- Represent the Chapter Area to Tribes, regional stakeholders, business alliances, and product groups.
- Promote the reuse of engineering enablers and test frameworks across organizations.
- Guide the advancement of continuous testing, AI-enabled quality engineering, reliability, and security practices.
- Balance professional excellence with utilization, capacity, skill mix, staffing costs, and business value.
Requirements
- Several years of substantial leadership experience in digital product development, IT, or software engineering.
- Demonstrated history of leading multiple teams, other leaders, or a broad professional community.
- Senior expertise in quality engineering, test automation, or software testing.
- Practical knowledge across API and integration testing, functional and non-functional testing, load and performance testing, CI/CD, DevOps, and reliability engineering.
- Fluent English communication skills with the ability to work across time zones and cultures.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant professional experience.
Qualifications
- University degree in software engineering, computer science, engineering, business information systems, or equivalent professional experience.
- BE, BTech, ME, MTech, or MBA degree.
- Prior work experience at Bosch.
- Knowledge of additional languages beyond English.
