Job Description

Canva is seeking a Cloud Hosting Finance Analyst to join its team in San Francisco. This position sits within the Technology and Infrastructure finance group, which manages the economic framework supporting the company's technical architecture, infrastructure, compute, GPU, and AI operations. As the organization transitions into an AI-native business, cloud hosting expenditures represent one of the fastest-growing and most strategically vital components of the profit and loss statement.

This role functions as a hybrid between a finance analyst and a data analyst, focusing on maintaining data integrity, accurate forecasting, and cost optimization for hosting services. The ideal candidate enjoys working with complex cloud cost data, transforming large datasets into reliable insights, and managing financial rhythms such as monthly closes, quarterly outlooks, and annual plans.

Daily duties include reconciling centralized cloud hosting vendor invoices, overseeing research and development reclassification methodologies within the Anaplan model, validating AWS and GCP billing, and building dashboards to answer financial inquiries from business partners. The professional in this position will also collaborate with engineering, procurement, and accounting teams on vendor onboarding, tagging, and scenario modeling for upcoming vendor renewals.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile hosting data across centralized cloud hosting vendor bill line items for FP&A partners
  • Manage research and development reclassification and free reclass methodologies in the Anaplan hosting model
  • Oversee the monthly financial close, quarterly outlooks, and annual operating plan for admin hosting
  • Validate AWS and GCP invoices and handle monthly billing console reconciliations and variance commentary
  • Build and maintain queries and dashboards for service movement and workload cost inquiries
  • Partner with FinOps and Finance Data on tagging, mapping, vendor onboarding, and anomaly detection
  • Prepare models and scenario analyses for cloud hosting vendor renewals and negotiations
  • Use AI tools daily and participate in modelling for chargeback pilot groups

Requirements

  • Demonstrated data proficiency and daily experience using a business intelligence tool such as Mode, Looker, or Omni
  • Strong financial modelling capabilities, particularly with driver-based models for cloud hosting expenses
  • Hands-on experience handling large transactional datasets including cloud cost or billing data
  • Working knowledge of AWS or GCP billing features like Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and Committed Use Discounts
  • Prior professional background working inside an FP&A function or equivalent environment
  • Ability to use AI tools fluently for model creation and daily analytical tasks
  • Clear written communication skills with attention to detail regarding invoices, accruals, and reconciliations

Qualifications

  • Experience using Anaplan or alternative enterprise planning software such as Adaptive, Pigment, or Oracle EPM
  • Exposure to FinOps practices and tooling like ProsperOps, Vantage, or native cloud cost utilities
  • Familiarity with designing chargeback or showback models
