Job Description

Harness, led by Jyoti Bansal, who founded AppDynamics, focuses on the stages of software delivery that follow coding, including testing, deployments, security, reliability, compliance and cost control. This remote, full-time Content Engineer role in Developer Relations is based in the United States and aims to show practitioners how the product works by building real examples with it.

The engineer identifies practical problems that developers, platform engineers or DevOps leads face, builds each scenario inside the Harness platform, and turns the outcome into video and written material. The role includes running recording sessions with technical practitioners, including Field CTOs, and owning the concept, execution and final cut. Production partners contribute on pacing and packaging, while technical substance and editorial calls rest with the engineer. The job also involves proposing new formats, using viewer metrics to decide what to build next, and working with Product, Engineering and Product Marketing.

What matters most is technical judgment about which scenarios are worth building and where the friction actually sits, backed by practical command of Harness or a comparable delivery tool. Familiarity with GitOps, progressive delivery, SAST, SCA and DORA metrics is expected. Candidates must present a portfolio of content they conceived, filmed and edited, and be able to run their own recording setup. The posting states this is not primarily a video editing job. An engineering background and an existing technical channel are nice to have. The base salary range is $150,000 to $162,000, with healthcare, flexible hours and time off, parental leave and monthly internet reimbursement among the benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Invent realistic use cases that a developer or platform engineer would face, then build them inside Harness
  • Run filming sessions with practitioners, including Field CTOs
  • Produce technical content for each use case, from concept to final piece
  • Show specific Harness AI capabilities in terms of a practitioner's real workflow
  • Work with production staff on pacing, visual design and delivery
  • Propose and test new formats and attention-grabbing openings
  • Use watch time and returning viewers to pick the next use cases
  • Coordinate with Product, Engineering, Field CTOs and Product Marketing

Requirements

  • Practical working command of Harness or a similar delivery, IDP or DevOps platform
  • Working knowledge of GitOps, progressive delivery, SAST, SCA and DORA metrics
  • Portfolio of content you personally conceived, shot and edited
  • Able to operate your own filming rig, whether remote or on location
  • Practitioner instincts that separate honest demos from polished ones
  • Self-directed, able to spot, build and film use cases without a brief
  • Creative ideas for holding a technical audience's attention

Qualifications

  • Engineering background with enough coding skill to judge code
  • Video or production craft such as framing, pacing and basic editing
  • Technical content channel you have grown personally or with a team

Core Skills

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Healthcare and flexible spending account
