Job Description
This Customer Experience Engineer I/II position sits within Harness's Customer Engineering team, which resolves complicated technical issues for enterprise customers and feeds what it learns back to Product and Engineering. The role is remote across the United States and Canada. It suits early-career engineers who want hands-on production work with mentoring, as well as experienced DevOps, SRE and platform engineers who want direct customer impact and continued coding.
The engineer takes customer cases from triage and root-cause analysis to resolution. Typical cases involve pipelines that break, deploys that fail, network connection issues and infrastructure set up wrongly across container platforms and major clouds. Roughly 20 to 30 percent of time goes to customer build projects, where the engineer shadows a senior colleague and builds alongside them. Other tasks include joining customer calls and screen-share sessions, documenting findings for engineers and managers, building scripts and diagnostics that speed casework, and converting repeat issues into runbooks and templates.
Background expected: about two years working on the customer side of engineering, DevOps, SRE or platform teams, or comparable depth from internships, side projects or open-source contributions. Hands-on Kubernetes, ECS and Docker experience and familiarity with one major cloud are needed, along with CI/CD basics and Linux and networking fundamentals. The engineer should script in Python, Node.js or Bash and read source code well enough to make small, guided changes. The stated pay is $100,000 to $135,000 USD. Benefits include healthcare, flexible hours and time off, parental leave, an assistance program, team events and monthly internet reimbursement.

- Help build customer-facing utilities and minor product patches alongside Product and Engineering
- Write internal scripts and diagnostics that make casework faster
- Turn recurring issues into runbooks, playbooks and reusable templates
- Work with the team's AI and LLM-powered internal tools as the practice matures
Requirements
- Two years or more in client-side engineering, DevOps, SRE or platform work, or equivalent practical depth gained elsewhere
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, ECS and Docker
- Experience with one major cloud: AWS, GCP or Azure
- Working understanding of CI/CD ideas, plus Linux and networking basics
- Able to script in Python, Node.js, Bash or a similar language
- Can read source and make small changes with guidance
- Clear written and verbal communication for both engineers and managers
- Quick learner who can get hands-on with unfamiliar systems
Qualifications
- Growth areas include infrastructure-as-code, observability tools, secrets management and AI agents
- Coursework, projects or open-source work can count toward the experience requirement
Core Skills
Benefits
- Competitive salary
