Job Description
This creative director role runs Freshworks' in-house design studio, covering brand campaigns, sales materials, events and digital work. The director is responsible for how the team operates, what it produces and how it is organized, and for making sure each piece of creative reflects the brand's polish and clarity. The studio is meant to behave like an internal agency: fast, accountable and well managed.
The job sets how the brand looks and sounds across formats and channels, and builds the process that keeps a creative team productive: intake, briefs, project tracking and quality checks. The director also steers adoption of AI-supported design and production tools while protecting craft, and keeps a shared repository of reusable assets and a design system so internal staff can produce on-brand material alone. Output is judged by asset reuse, production turnaround, stakeholder satisfaction and effect on campaign results. The director recruits and develops staff across design, art direction, motion and production.
The candidate should have a decade or more in creative leadership, covering brand design or running an in-house studio, including at least three years leading teams from several disciplines. A body of work covering digital, campaign and product marketing for brands is expected, alongside B2B software or technology marketing experience. Comfort with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite and newer AI design platforms is needed. The listing is on-site, with base pay between $215,000 and $265,000, and bonus or equity possibly available.
Responsibilities
- Operate the internal studio as a hub of expertise for brand, demand, product marketing, sales and regional groups.
- Define how the brand expresses itself visually across formats and channels.
- Direct creative output for campaigns, digital and social assets, decks, events, video and motion work.
- Set up intake, briefing, project tracking and review processes that let the studio run like an agency.
- Encourage use of AI design tools to add capacity without losing quality.
- Keep a shared repository of reusable assets and a design system so teams can self-serve on-brand output.
- Measure asset reuse, speed, satisfaction and campaign impact.
- Recruit and develop creative staff in design, art direction, motion and production roles.
Requirements
- Ten-plus years leading creative work, including brand design or running an in-house studio.
- At least three years managing multidisciplinary creative teams.
- An impressive body of brand work spanning digital, campaigns and product marketing.
- Deep grasp of visual design, art direction and motion, and of how creative supports revenue.
- Proven record building and scaling an internal creative function.
- Comfort with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite and newer AI design platforms.
- Executive presence to present creative strategy to senior leaders.
Qualifications
- Experience in B2B software or technology marketing, making complex products appear clear and appealing.
- Experience across product marketing, sales, brand and content teams, plus executive communications.
- Judgment about when to push a piece and when to ship it.
