Job Description
YipitData is a research and analytics company for fast-moving sectors, with a culture built around ownership and ongoing skill growth. It is hiring a Data Lead for its Central Data team, which builds the standardized datasets, methodologies and systems that feed investor, corporate and data feed products. The role is listed as remote, and the work can be done entirely from home across the US.
The Data Lead takes charge of one of two domains: Consumer Receipts, which processes and classifies transaction-level receipts, or B2B Spend, which turns purchase and invoice records from several providers into standardized datasets. Within a trio of leaders that includes a technical product manager and a data engineering manager, this lead is responsible for methodology, data quality and analytical direction. Responsibilities include defining how partner data is processed, validated and modeled, designing validation frameworks and monitoring, building reusable methods for shared business concepts, and onboarding new datasets with partners.
Beyond that, the position involves reimagining analysis through AI and automation, deciding priorities and architecture, and coaching junior analysts as the group expands. Success is measured by how well the lead builds systems that make future analyses faster and more reliable. Example first-year projects include a general method for classifying receipt line items across providers and automated QA that catches shifts in merchant tagging.
The posting asks for six to eight or more years of data analytics experience, expert SQL and Python or PySpark skills, and a record of picking up complex methods quickly. Candidates should reason about bias and representativeness, calibrate rigor to the stakes, lead ambiguous projects with several stakeholders, handle messy and changing datasets, and use AI tools actively. The base compensation is anticipated to be $165,000 to $205,000. Benefits include a 401(k) match, flexible vacation, parental leave and learning reimbursement. The company cannot consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship.
