Job Description
Swiggy is looking for a Data Scientist I based in Bangalore, Karnataka, for a full-time, on-site role that asks for one to three years of industry or research lab experience. The position centres on machine learning and deep learning work that improves the quality of ad recommendations, along with optimisation techniques that raise campaign performance.
A large part of the job is digging through Swiggy's historical data to answer business and customer experience questions, then building end-to-end inference solutions that run at Swiggy's scale. The data scientist works with engineers, product managers and analysts on requirements, technical designs and delivery, and takes projects from first idea through to launch. Keeping up with research on ad bidding and recommendation systems, and adapting it to Swiggy's problems, is expected. The role also involves sharing findings in internal and external forums for both technical and non-technical audiences, and it offers work on logistics-domain challenges.
Candidates need a bachelor's or master's degree in a quantitative field and hands-on experience applying machine learning, deep learning and statistics to business problems. Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to reason from first principles, and fluency in Python, SQL, Spark and TensorFlow are required, along with clear spoken and written communication. Experience with large-scale data, shipping ML models to production, e-commerce or logistics, generative AI, agentic AI, large language models and natural language processing are listed as advantages.
