Job Description

Meesho is recruiting a Data Scientist III for its VaLMo team in Bengaluru. VaLMo is Meesho's own logistics division, created to offer logistics and supply chain help. The role sits in the Supply Chain Network Optimisation group within VaLMo's data science team, which works on problems such as network design and first- and last-mile optimisation.

The group applies operations research, machine learning, deep learning and mixed-integer programming to supply chain problems. The data scientist starts from business questions, uses data analysis and root-cause investigation to frame them, then builds scalable solutions that can handle large datasets efficiently.

Core work includes writing mathematical formulations, designing heuristics, and applying optimisation methods to difficult non-linear and integer programming tasks. The role also turns model results into insights for business leaders, works with product, engineering and business colleagues, and owns a problem from first discovery through to a scalable solution.

The posting favours someone who can move quickly and has a growth mindset. It expects clear communication with leaders and peers, and a drive to use data and research to shape the long-term design of supply chain models.

Responsibilities

  • Create and deploy scalable optimisation solutions for supply chains.
  • Analyse business problems through data, root-cause work and continuous problem discovery.
  • Write efficient code to process large datasets and build scalable tools.
  • Apply optimisation methods to difficult non-linear and integer programming tasks.
  • Design and implement applied mathematical models for business challenges.
  • Turn model results into actionable insights for stakeholders.
  • Own problems from discovery through to delivered solutions.

Requirements

  • Four or more years of professional experience and a degree from a quantitative field such as statistics, operations research, maths or computing.
  • Ability to build mathematical formulations, design heuristics and break complex problems into smaller ones.
  • Experience processing large datasets, preferably with distributed frameworks such as PySpark.
  • Strong Python skills for modelling and machine learning work.
  • Hands-on use of optimisation solvers such as Gurobi on supply chain and logistics problems, including network design and time-window vehicle routing.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and a genuine interest in using OR methods on business problems.

Qualifications

  • Work on network design problems in logistics or supply chains.
  • Experience developing deep learning forecasting models.
  • Exposure to object-oriented programming.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud.
