Welo Global is seeking a Dutch Sports Localization Specialist focusing on football to join the localization team. Welo Global acts as a global transformation partner, delivering multilingual content services, translation, localization, adaptation, and training data solutions for machine learning to international clients. In this remote position, the specialist will handle English-to-Dutch football content and ensure it connects effectively with target markets.
This role is ideal for a professional with deep football knowledge, native-level Dutch fluency, and strong writing skills who wants to work independently. Candidates will evaluate, translate, fact-check, and adapt sports material while following established guidelines and conducting market research.
Responsibilities
- Review, localize, fact check, translate, and adapt sports-related content with a primary focus on football
- Adhere to established writing style guides and guidelines during content localization
- Conduct research on local content, product and terminology trends, and localization practices for the target market
- Provide feedback on written content
- Complete an assessment covering grammar and subject matter expertise
Requirements
- Possess a BS or BA degree, or have at least 2 years of work experience in the linguistic field, sports journalism, copywriting, or copy-editing
- Demonstrate extensive sports knowledge, specifically in football
- Bring experience in translation and localization of multimedia content, preferably including machine translations and evaluations
- Have native-level fluency in the target language along with excellent grammar and writing skills
- Display strong creative writing, proofreading, and editing skills in the native language
- Be tech savvy with practical knowledge of computers, mobile devices, word processors, and spreadsheets
- Own a licensed version of MS Office applications
- Ability to work independently and remotely
Qualifications
- Published work on platforms like ESPN, The Athletic, FourFourTwo, or similar outlets
- Experience working with sports media platforms, live score apps, or sports streaming services
- Ability to adapt voice and style for Gen Z, football fan culture, and pop culture audiences
