Job Description
This is a full-time, remote Email Deliverability Specialist job in the Technical Support department of Customer.io, a company whose platform helps businesses send large numbers of automated emails, push alerts, in-app messages and texts every day. The person hired helps customers reach the inbox by finding sending problems, advising on best practices and keeping up with an email landscape that changes frequently.
The specialist works within a deliverability program where several experts share knowledge across Technical Support. Duties include speaking with customers on calls, moving complicated cases to resolution, and preparing Customer Success colleagues for deliverability discussions. The role also investigates technical matters with the engineering team and converts patterns found in support tickets into documentation, training and workflow improvements that benefit the wider support group.
Core technical work involves reviewing sender configuration and tracking IP and domain reputation. This includes authentication records such as SPF, DKIM, DMARC and BIMI, plus DNS setup. Provider feeds from Microsoft SNDS, Yahoo Sender Hub and Google Postmaster Tools help pinpoint blocklisting, spam trap hits and falling engagement. The specialist also finds acceptable use and spam complaint problems, handles compliance discussions with customers directly, and follows rule changes from Gmail, Yahoo, CAN-SPAM and GDPR.
The ideal candidate has two to four years of deliverability work at an email service provider, a B2B software company or a marketing automation platform. They understand authentication and mail infrastructure, can dig into technical problems alongside engineers, and communicate clearly on customer calls. Applicants should be based in the US or Canada. Involvement in deliverability groups such as M3AAWG or ESPC is a plus.
Pay is listed at USD 102,000 to 110,000 per year, or the local-currency equivalent. Perks include employer-paid premiums for medical, dental and vision care, mental health cover, and supplemental insurance for staff and families, 16 weeks of paid parental leave, unlimited time off, remote-work and wellness stipends, and a professional development allowance.

- Use provider dashboards to pinpoint blocklistings, spam trap hits and drops in engagement
- Carry technical investigations with engineering and report trends seen in customer cases to the product group
- Spot acceptable use breaches and spam complaints, and hold clear compliance discussions with customers
- Stay current on changing sender requirements from Gmail, Yahoo, CAN-SPAM and GDPR
- Train and coach Customer Success and Technical Support staff through guides, sessions and day-to-day deliverability talks
- Build help articles, Academy lessons and proactive guidance so deliverability support can grow with the customer base
Requirements
- Two to four years of email deliverability work at a sizable email provider, B2B software company or automation platform, ideally at scale

- Comfort digging into complex technical problems alongside engineers
- Ability to use provider data feeds and monitoring tools such as Everest or MXToolbox, and to turn bounce rates, engagement signals and blocklist findings into practical advice
- Familiarity with email compliance rules and acceptable use norms, plus confidence speaking directly with customers
- Strong written and spoken communication, including running customer calls
- Based in the US or Canada
