Bosch is hiring an Embedded C++ & PLC Automation Engineer-EPS1 for a full-time position located in Bengaluru. This on-site role involves working with ctrlX PLC IO modules and accessories.
The position requires analyzing customer Functional Requirements and Technical Design Packages to establish integration test scopes and strategies. Responsibilities include designing and maintaining automated integration test cases using Embedded C++, validating industrial communication protocols, and executing system-level testing on hardware setups located in Germany. The role also requires troubleshooting software on target hardware alongside firmware, hardware, and engineering teams based in Germany, as well as mentoring junior engineers and driving continuous improvement in testing practices.
This role is suitable for professionals with five to ten years of experience in embedded systems, strong C++ programming abilities, and a background in industrial communication protocols.
Responsibilities
- Review customer Functional Requirements and Technical Design Packages to determine testing scope and strategy
- Build and maintain automated integration test cases using Embedded C++ for ctrlX PLC IO modules and accessories
- Verify hardware-software integration along with industrial communication protocols such as EtherCAT CoE, EoE, CAN, M-Bus, RS232, and RS485
- Execute integration and system-level testing on hardware test setups situated in Germany
- Troubleshoot and debug integration defects on target hardware working alongside firmware, hardware, and German engineering teams
- Create and expand reusable C++ test frameworks, utilities, and automation scripts to boost coverage and efficiency
- Keep up test documentation, bug reports, and requirement traceability aligned with release and quality guidelines
- Coach junior team members, engage in technical reviews, and advance integration testing methodologies
Requirements
- 5 to 10 years of professional experience
- Proficiency in programming with Embedded C++ and PLC IO modules
- Practical experience building test cases using the C++17 framework
- Solid grasp of object-oriented programming principles
- Background in Linux-based embedded systems or embedded runtime environments
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols including EtherCAT, EoE, M-BUS, CAN, RS232, and RS485
- Competence in debugging and troubleshooting software directly on target hardware
- Familiarity with software life cycles, unit testing, integration testing, and Git version control tools
Qualifications
- BE, B.Tech, or M.Tech degree in E&C or an equivalent field
- Practical background with PLC, IO modules, and related accessories
- Understanding of real-time constraints within embedded systems
- Familiarity with build systems, cross-compilation, and deployment onto embedded hardware targets
- Foundational knowledge of multithreading and memory optimization in Embedded C++
- Experience handling requirement analysis, design documentation, and customer interactions
